           Chairmans report 2018-19

We should all be proud of our Group and be thankful for our great leader team who continue to provide an action packed program for the children, including camps and international trips all arranged and organised in their “spare time”, especially when you receive acknowledgments such as the letters from the DofE assessors following last year’s Gold Expedition on Dartmoor.

Here are three extracts in the letters from David Bentley and Bob Beck.

The reason for this letter is to let you know you should all be extremely proud of these young who should very much be congratulated by you all. It was a pleasure to help and get to know these young adults a little bearing in mind none of us knew each other which makes the experience even more rewarding.

During the four days it was evident they all worked together as a team, also not seen often enough these days, but gentlemen were looking after the ladies. The groups navigation was pretty much perfect which not many groups can say and nothing seemed to be a problem, we did not have single issue or negative moment. These guys will remain friends for life if they keep in contact with each other which is brilliant.

I feel that I do need to say that the team behaved well, walked well and supported each other to a well-earned successful conclusion and above all were a credit to all of you.

It has been a pleasure to spend four days in some of the wildest country in the UK with them and I thank you all in supporting them.

We currently have our largest numbers of adult support for the various sections. A big thanks should go out to all our Section Leader’s, Assistant Leaders, Non Uniform section assistants, Young Leaders and helpers for all the effort, planning and execution of the program they have provided over the previous 12 months. Please remember that they do all this voluntary to ensure your children get skills for life.

Once again, our small but effective Group Executive Committee and Building Committee have maintained the building and equipment and have ensured that the required finances are in place so that the sections have been able to fulfil their exciting programs, so another big thanks to all the Group Executive Committee and Building Committee Members.

We do need new parents on the Executive to bring new ideas and suggestions to improve the Group. Support is always needed at events such as the recent Golcar Lily Day, a bit of help in the Kitchen or Tuck shop and tidying away is always appreciated. Please give a little of your time to help.
