At Golcar Scout group we are always looking at new ideas and ways of may Scouting more fun, adventurous and accessible to more people, so that everyone has the chance to join in and gain valuable life skills.
I’m very proud to announce that we launched the Scout Associations new Section called Squirrel Scouts at the start of November. This Section is for 4 to 5 year olds and is designed to introduce the age group to working and playing with others, craft, hand and eye coordination and developing their imagination and thought process.
We are currently the only Scout group in our District to have a Squirrel Section, and one of only several in the entire County of West Yorkshire. A fact that we’re very proud of.
During the main grip of the covid pandemic we did our best to provide online Scouting to all and your support was greatly appreciated. Young people numbers did drop off a little but Sections are now growing back up to strength. We are still recruiting for Beaver Scouts for our Wednesday Colony as their numbers are still a little low. if you know of anyone who may be interested in joining this Section (or any other) please let us know, or just tell them to get in touch.
On the 23rd of November we had a very special Squirrel meeting where 13 Squirrels were invested, along with their two Section Leaders who are brand new to the World of Scouting. The Beaver, Cub and Scout Leaders also attended, along with two special guests – The Assistant County Commissioner for Squirrels and the County Commissioner himself. Watch out for them at future events – they’re brilliant!
